Li & Ekri Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Li & Ekri ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services.
2. User Accounts
You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an accountYou are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your account credentialsYou must be at least 13 years old to use this serviceYou are responsible for all activities that occur under your accountYou must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your accountAccounts come in two roles: Reader and Author. You select your role at registrationAdmin accounts are managed internally by the Platform3. Reader Terms
Readers purchase Quills (the Platform's virtual currency) and use them to unlock individual chapters at prices set by authorsQuills can be purchased in packages starting at $5.00. Members receive bonus Quills on every purchaseAll Quill purchases are final unless content violates our policies or applicable consumer protection lawsMembers ($2.99/month) receive 30% bonus Quills on purchases, 250 Quills on each renewal, 10% off chapter prices, Mèt la text-to-speech, Book Ideas voting, a verified badge, and reading milestone bonusesMembership fees are non-refundable except as required by lawReaders earn bonus Quills when they reach reading milestones (completing books)Readers can comment on chapters and reply to other readers' commentsReaders can bookmark chapters and save passages for personal referenceReaders can rate and review authors based on their published contentReaders can report content they find inappropriate or in violation of our guidelines4. Author Terms
Authors publish and sell their work chapter by chapter on the PlatformAuthors set their own chapter prices in Quills (0 to 999 Quills per chapter, where 100 Quills equals approximately $1.00). The first chapter of every book is always freeAuthors may upload a full novel file (.txt or .docx) and the Platform will automatically split it into draft chapters for reviewAuthors may create "Universes" to group related books togetherAuthors may submit Book Ideas for reader feedback and votingAuthors may create discount coupons for their worksAuthors are subject to the separate Author Agreement, which governs revenue share and content ownershipInactive authors (no new content in 7+ days) may receive email reminders from the Platform5. Founding Members Program
The Founding Members Program is an invitation-only program managed by the Platform administratorFounding Authors receive a reduced platform commission of 10% (instead of the standard 20%)Founding Readers receive a complimentary 90-day membership trialFounding Members may share referral links that grant new users 50 bonus Quills on their first purchaseFounding Members have access to the Founding Hub with exclusive features and suggestions6. Content Guidelines
Content must not contain illegal material or promote illegal activitiesContent must not infringe on intellectual property rights of othersContent must be appropriately labeled for mature themesContent must not contain hate speech, harassment, or discriminationContent must not contain malware or harmful codeContent must not impersonate others or misrepresent affiliationsComments and replies must be respectful and relevant to the discussionUsers who violate these guidelines may have their comments removed or accounts suspended7. Payments
All payments are processed securely through StripeReaders purchase Quills (virtual currency) using real currency (USD). Quill packages start at $5.00Members receive 30% bonus Quills on all purchases and 250 Quills upon each membership renewalAuthors earn real dollars when readers spend Quills on their chapters. Author earnings are calculated based on Quill value (100 Quills = $1.00) minus platform commissionAuthors receive their earnings via Stripe Connect instant payouts or bank transferQuill purchases are non-refundable except as required by lawRefund requests are handled on a case-by-case basis8. Text-to-Speech
Members have access to Mèt la-powered text-to-speech for published chaptersText-to-speech is provided through third-party services (ElevenLabs and OpenAI)Audio quality and voice availability may varyGenerated audio is for personal use only and may not be redistributed9. Reporting and Moderation
Users may report inappropriate content through the platformWe will review reports within 48 hoursRepeated violations may result in content removal or account terminationWe reserve the right to remove content that violates these terms without noticeAppeals may be submitted to support@lieekri.com10. Privacy
We collect and process data as described in our Privacy PolicyWe do not sell personal information to third partiesBy using the Platform, you consent to our data practices11. Intellectual Property
Li & Ekri respects the intellectual property rights of othersUsers retain ownership of content they create, including comments and reviewsThe Platform name, logo, and branding are property of Li & EkriDMCA takedown requests can be submitted to support@lieekri.com12. Limitation of Liability
Li & Ekri is not liable for content posted by users, including chapter content, comments, and reviews. We provide the platform "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. In no event shall Li & Ekri be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Li & Ekri from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Platform or violation of these terms.
14. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes via email or platform notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
15. Governing Law
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws.
