Li & Ekri Author Agreement

Welcome to Li & Ekri! This Author Agreement ("Agreement") outlines the terms under which you may publish and monetize your creative works on our platform.

1. Revenue Share

Authors receive 80% of net revenue from all chapter sales (after payment processing fees)

The Platform retains 20% as commission for providing the service

**Founding Authors** receive a reduced commission rate of 10%, keeping 90% of net revenue

Membership revenue: Authors receive 40% of membership fees, distributed based on reader engagement with your content

Payment processing fees (Stripe: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction) are deducted from gross sales before revenue share calculation

2. Payment Terms

Earnings are calculated and displayed in real-time on your Author Dashboard

**Stripe Connect Instant Payouts**: Authors can connect via Stripe Connect for instant payouts to a debit card (1.5% instant payout fee applies)

**Standard Bank Transfer**: Payouts can also be requested via bank transfer, typically processed within 5-7 business days

You are responsible for any applicable taxes on your earnings

Authors are responsible for providing accurate payment information

Pending earnings will be paid within 30 days of account termination

3. Content Ownership

Authors retain FULL and EXCLUSIVE ownership of their work at all times

Li & Ekri does NOT claim any ownership rights to your content

Authors grant Li & Ekri a non-exclusive, revocable license to display, distribute, and promote the content on the platform

This license is solely for the purpose of operating the platform and does not transfer any intellectual property rights

Authors may publish their work elsewhere simultaneously

Authors may revoke this license at any time by removing their content from the platform

4. Platform Watermark

All published works will display a small, non-invasive watermark stating "Published on Li & Ekri"

This watermark indicates distribution through our platform ONLY

The watermark does NOT imply any ownership, copyright claim, or intellectual property rights by Li & Ekri

The watermark serves solely as a platform identifier for readers

Authors acknowledge and agree to this watermark as a condition of publishing on the platform

5. Publishing & Pricing

Authors set their own chapter prices between $0.00 and $5.99

Free chapters are permitted and encouraged for samples

Prices can be changed at any time

Authors may publish chapters individually or upload a complete novel file (.txt or .docx) for automatic chapter splitting

Uploaded novels are split into draft chapters for author review before publishing

The Platform reserves the right to offer promotional discounts with author consent

Members receive a platform-wide discount set by the admin (typically 10%)

6. Coupon System

Authors may create discount coupons for their works

Coupons can offer percentage discounts on chapter purchases

Authors control coupon expiration dates and usage limits

Revenue share applies to the discounted price

7. Author Universes

Authors may create "Universes" to group related books into thematic collections

Universes are public and browsable by readers

Authors manage which books belong to each universe

Universes can be created, edited, and deleted at any time

8. Content Requirements

Content must be original work or properly licensed

Content must not violate copyright or trademark rights of others

Content must follow our community guidelines

Content must be appropriately labeled for age-appropriate audiences

You represent and warrant that you have the right to publish all content you submit

AI-generated content (via Mèt la) must be disclosed

9. Text-to-Speech

Published chapters may be converted to audio using Mèt la text-to-speech for member listeners

This audio is generated for personal listening only and does not constitute an audiobook license

Authors consent to their chapter text being processed by third-party TTS providers (ElevenLabs, OpenAI) for this purpose

10. Chapter Comments

Readers may post comments and replies on published chapters

Authors can engage with readers through the comment system

Authors and admins have moderation rights to remove inappropriate comments

Comments are public and visible to all users

11. Book Ideas Feature

Authors may submit book ideas for members to vote on

This feature helps gauge reader interest before writing

Voting results are visible to the author on their dashboard

There is no obligation to write ideas that receive votes

Members can comment on book ideas to provide feedback

12. Founding Authors

Founding Author status is granted by invitation from the Platform administrator

Founding Authors enjoy a reduced platform commission of 10% (instead of 20%)

Founding Authors may have additional perks as defined by the Founding Members Program

Founding status may have an expiration date set by the administrator

13. Termination

Authors may remove their works at any time

Existing purchases remain accessible to buyers who purchased before removal

Pending earnings will be paid within 30 days of account termination

Upon content removal, the platform license is automatically revoked

Li & Ekri may terminate this Agreement for violations of our terms

14. Intellectual Property Clarification

All characters, plots, worlds, names, and creative elements remain the sole property of the author

Li & Ekri makes no claim to derivative works, adaptations, or any future use of the content

Authors retain all rights to sell, license, adapt, or use their work in any other medium or platform

Nothing in this Agreement shall be construed as a transfer of any intellectual property rights

15. Indemnification

Authors agree to indemnify Li & Ekri against any claims arising from content they publish that infringes on third-party rights.

16. Limitation of Liability

Li & Ekri's liability under this Agreement shall be limited to the amount of earnings owed to the author.

17. Agreement

By publishing on Li & Ekri, you agree to these terms. This Agreement may be terminated by either party at any time with written notice. The provisions regarding intellectual property ownership shall survive termination.
